1. Curb Weight and Recoverable Steel
The single biggest factor is how much steel and metal can be recovered. A full size pickup at 5,000 lbs has roughly twice the recoverable metal of a 2,500 lb compact car, so it pays roughly twice as much in raw scrap value before parts are factored in.
2. Catalytic Converter
An intact catalytic converter (especially on Toyota, Honda, Ford, and many SUV models) can be worth $100 to $700 on its own. If yours has been cut off (a common theft target), the offer drops accordingly.
3. Year, Make, and Parts Demand
Newer model years and popular models bring more, because parts buyers will pay extra for working alternators, starters, transmissions, doors, and panels. A 2015 Civic in rough shape can outprice a 1998 Cadillac in pristine shape because Civic parts are in constant demand.
4. Condition: Running vs Non Running
